I are among those mushy individuals who loves Valentine’s day and all of the stupidity and sweet taste that support it. Really, I often take pleasure in silly and sweet all year long, but especially in the name of love.

During the month of February I like to embellish with hearts and pinks and reds and great deals of X’s and O’s. My Valentiney silliness overflows into the kitchen area, too, where I can not help however spoil my sweets with sweets.

Yesterday was a rainy day and kind of dreary. We needed a little treat to add some sunshine to the day. So, I made pink smoothies for my Valentines. Lucy, my 4 years of age, was my sidekick in the kitchen area (as she generally is).

While a food photographer I’m not, I thought I ‘d share what Lucy and I worked up so you and your Valentines can delight in a sweet treat, too.

Pink healthy smoothies for my Valentines

When I make healthy smoothies I am not one for exact measuring. I add enough liquid to mix and make it drinkable. Other than that, we just eye-ball our ingredients and provided it a whirl in the mixer.

I consisted of a handful of carrots (which you can quickly neglect) for some additional healthy benefits and since I understood the color would not alter the pink of the various other components the way including kale or green spinach would.

Ingredients utilized in our pink healthy smoothies:

  • Strawberries
  • Bananas
  • Carrots
  • Orange juice
  • Greek yogurt
  • Honey

Tip:  If you choose to include carrots to your smoothie mix, add the carrots first and puree them with some of the oj initially in order to get them truly well mixed into your smoothie mix. Then, add the rest of your components and blend as usual.

Lucy, age 4, assisted in the kitchen area by:

  • peeling and chopping the bananas
  • taking the leaves off of the strawberries
  • adding a few spoonfuls of yogurt to the blender
  • putting the fruit and carrots into the blender
  • getting our jar/glasses ready and putting in the straws

Will you be dishing out any sweets to your sweets this week?
