Forget take-out or distribution pizza. If you can make a set of cookies, you can make pizza in your home– from scratch. Start with a basic yeast dough made from water, yeast, olive oil, flour and salt. Include your preferred garnishes, such as pizza sauce, cheese, basil, sausage, tomatoes and peppers, and bake the pie in a hot oven for 12 to 15 minutes. From beginning to finish, the entire procedure takes less than one hour.

Step 1

Lay the pastry fabric on the counter. Pastry fabrics are made from material or plastic and typically have circles printed directly on them to help you in presenting pizzas or pie crusts. Although a pastry fabric is not definitely needed, it can be cleaned in the sink or laundry and minimizes unpleasant cleanups on the countertops. Search for a pastry cloth at your neighborhood home establishment.

Step 2

Rub the cornmeal or flour over the pastry cloth and the rolling pin to keep the dough from sticking. Press down on the dough with the rolling pin, delicately rolling it out with a backward and forward activity. Turn the pizza dough slightly from time to time to make sure an equally presented crust. How thick you roll it depends mainly on your choice. For a thin crust, roll it no thicker than 1/8-inch thick. For a thicker crust, roll the dough 1/4-inch thick.
